Tulsa Ballet Brings Dance to the Entire Community
Tulsa Ballet has partnered with over 50 social service agencies and has welcomed nearly 5,000 clients from organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, DVIS, Family & Children’s Services, Mental Health Association of Tulsa and The Salvation Army to attend dress rehearsals as well as a special production of The Nutcracker at no cost.
Tulsa Ballet Exposes Our City to the Rest of the World
In June 2010, the company made its debut on the stage of the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Accolades poured in about the strength, talent and discipline of Tulsa Ballet from Kennedy Center management, The Washington Post, and Dance Magazine.
Tulsa Ballet Dancers Serve Our Community
Not only are our dancers incredible artists but also, they are generous individuals eager to give back to the community. This past year, dancers volunteered with the Oklahoma Blood Institute, St. Francis Children’s Hospital, and the YWCA.
Tulsa Ballet's Center for Dance Education is the Region's Leading Ballet Training Facility
With internationally-renowned instructors and an enrollment of nearly 400 students, the Center for Dance Education (CDE) is training the next generation of professional dancers. CDE students recently won numerous major awards, including the Outstanding School honor, at the prestigious, regional Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) ballet competition held in Dallas during February 2012.
Tulsa Ballet's CDE Provides Effective Arts Education Programs to Thousands of Area Children
The CDE reaches out to children from under-served communities through numerous outreach programs that promote dance education, arts appreciation, and physical fitness. Offered at no cost to the participants, these programs include Leaps Ahead, Leaps In Motion and Journey Through Dance. Outcomes studies showed that following participation in these programs, students exhibited higher self-confidence, increased focus in the classroom, and improved posture. Students were also able to jump higher, do more sit-ups and stretch further showing an overall improvement in the participants’ strength and flexibility.
